Shoulder Pain / Tenderness
shouldcr problems
The shoulder is the body’s most flexible joint. It allows a wide range of movements, such as reaching and throwing. Because it is used often, the shoulder is prone to injury. Muscles, tendons, or other parts of the shoulder can be torn, swollen, or irritated due to its many functions. This can cause shoulder pain and movement problems. Shoulder pain can also be caused by the strain of repeated movements, such as reaching overhead. Other causes include certain sports activities, arthritis, and neck problems. Our state of the art functional care can help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and restore movement.
What we do to access your shoulder
When one comes to our office we will access your complaint and check the range of motion of your shoulders and access how far you can raise your arms. After an orthopedic examination in our office we may take x-rays or order an MRI to help show the condition of your shoulder joint and what is specifically causing the pain.
Treatment options in our office
We will then create a care plan to get rid of your shoulder pain in a fast and cost effective manner. This is likely to include a hands-on non-painful technique called manipulation in addition to other types of treatment to reduce pain by relaxing the muscles and reducing swelling. These include:
- Ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and cold laser therapy to reduce muscle spasm, relax muscles, and improve blood flow.
- Ice to reduce swelling and heat to relax muscles.
- Trigger point therapy injections to ease muscle tension and create a healing environment for the joint complex.
- Joint injections to reduce inflammation and begin a quicker and more pain free healing process.
In addition to the above, you’re taught ways to help relieve and protect your shoulder and prevent future problems by making lifestyle choices and performing specific exercises to enhance the healing process
